Accompanied by some totally amazing Soviet propaganda cartoons. These were a blast to watch as I played this back, hadn’t seen them before. I found these super compelling for a number of reasons, from the art and character designs to the sheer obtuseness of the writing. In places almost avant-garde. It’s hard to tell if the way they portray Americans was supposed to seem appealing or not! IDK, I found them impenetrable in places but consistently thought-provoking.

VIDYA

Tonight’s programme includes a Groom & Clean commercial, a Freezone commercial (painful corns?), How Boys Grow (sex ed from the 50s), Assignment: Venezuela (a film by Creole Petroleum that aims to recruit Americans to live in Venezuela to work in the oil fields), Part of an Andrew Tate music video, a Cope commercial (headache medicine), a Fletcher’s Castoria commercial (laxative), a plastic wrap commercial, a Dash detergent commercial (soap), and a Monkey’s Uncle commercial (game). Be an owl that cries “boo hoo.” Then, Communist Propaganda (an amazing thing produced by the DOD.)

Communist Propaganda is not to be missed. This kind of ephemera is dense with layers of anthropological and linguistic information.

I’ll stream this by itself sometime, probably tonight, because I skipped through a bunch of the “four Fallout characters speaking stiltedly” sequences last night.

I was surprised that the American Generals were all so vocally and explicitly anti-racist.

[N.B. I did in fact stream it the following night. The whole first half is on the next show after this one; the second half appears in this video right here. -Ed]

It takes a significant amount of work to curate and sequence and store and manipulate and broadcast and chat and live dj and video art so i should have at least as much money as JD Vance
