We are back for Part 2 of our episode with Dr. Devlin, Infectious Diseases specialist in London, ON! We kick of this part of the episode by hearing about the current Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic (information current as of March 11th, 2020). Dr. Devlin discusses our healthcare system's ability to cope with such an outbreak, how we are preparing locally, community-spread, how COVID-19 compares to the SARS outbreak in 2002/3, how the virus spreads, what we learned from SARS that we are applying to this pandemic (in terms of infection control measures), and much more. In trying times like these, we need comedic relief and personal connections more than ever, which is why we proceed to put Dr. Devlin in the 'Hot Seat' to answer some rapid-fire questions about herself. Dr. Devlin rounds off the episode with some sage advice for students struggling with mental health challenges and shares her own personal experiences with these issues.
