Consistent communication and early contractor involvement has been crucial to maintaining a collaborative supply chain. Working on the project for the last seven years, our Bid Manager, Richard Ayres, sits down with key speakers from our mechanical and electrical partners – NG Bailey – and our secondary and architectural steelwork partner – AMI – to reflect on how we maintained a collaborative supply chain.

Despite market trends over the last 10 years constantly changing, our team’s collaborative approach to risk and cost management ensured the project not only met expectations but exceeded. Collaborative working has been central to the success in the building of the Manchester Engineering Campus Development. We worked with our project managers, Buro Four, and our client, University of Manchester, right from the beginning of the project. Not only did we select the supply chain partners we thought were perfect for the project, but we worked together on the academic future of the students to add small details, which makes a huge difference to them. 

Construction technologies such as BIM and Revit are crucial tools for stakeholder communication. Find out how we used them to share project progress with the University of Manchester as we were building the Manchester Engineering Campus Development. Angela Pllu, our Environment and Sustainability Manager is joined by Poul Wend Hanson, our Environmental Manager and Roisin Hyde, CEO of a Queen's University Belfast Spinout, NoMAD - Novel Materials Architecture + Design, and part-time Lecturer at Ulster University, to share information on geopolymer concrete - a new low carbon concrete alternative that we've been trialing across our business.
