Exemplos abordados:

Rise - verbo intransitivo (não precisa de complemento - objeto)

The sun rises everyday

Prices will rise very soon.

Raise - Verbo intransitivo (precisa de um objeto)

Any questions, please raise your hand. (the hand - obj direto)

We need to raise the motivation in this company (the motivation - obj direto)

Voce sabe usar as estruturas do futuro em inglês? hoje eu trago os três tempos verbais que são usados para falar de futuro.

Seguem os exemplos:

Our company is going to hire a new marketing manager. I’m certain. (tenho certeza ou fiz planos)

I think he’ll come to the meeting. (Palpite)

Look at those clouds! I think it’s going to rain. (tenho evidencias que vai chover)

The boss looks angry. I think he’s going to shout at somebody. (tenho evidencias de que a pessoa vai gritar com alguém)

I think it will rain next week. (não tenho evidencias que vai chover semana que vem, é só um palpite)

In the future, I think people won’t write emails anymore. (não tenho evidencias mas acredito que as pessoas não escreverão mais emails no futuro)

Como falar: "Eu fui para Paris" em Inglês?! nesse podcast de hoje eu coloco uma provocação para vocês, queridos praticantes do Inglês.

Existem três formas de dizer, o que em português, teria a mesma tradução:

I went to Paris, 

I have been to Paris,

I have gone to Paris.

Steve Jobs was a famous American entrepreneur and inventor. He was the co-founder and chairman

of Apple Inc.

He was born in San Francisco, California in 1955. He lived with his adoptive parents Paul and Clara

Jobs. Paul worked as a mechanic and a carpenter, and Steve learned how to work with his hands. Paul

showed Steve how to build electronics such as radios and televisions.

Steve Jobs’ career started in 1972. He worked as a technician for Atari. After taking a break to travel

to India, Jobs returned to Atari in 1974. In 1975, he attended meetings of the Homebrew Computer

Club with Steve Wozniak. In 1976, Jobs and Wozniak started their own business, which they named

”Apple Computer Company”, remembering a happy summer when Jobs picked apples.

In 1976, Wozniak invented the Apple I computer. They received funding from an Intel engineer and

started to sell the computers. However, because of disappointing sales and Jobs’s difficult relationship

with the company, he stopped coming to work and resigned as chairman in 1985. Jobs founded NeXT

Inc. after his resignation with $7 million. In 1996, Apple decided to buy NeXT for $427 million and

Jobs returned to the company that he co-founded.

With Jobs as chairman, the company increased sales significantly with the introduction of the iMac,

the iPod portable music player and other new products. On June 29, 2007, Apple entered the cellular

phone business with the introduction of the iPhone.

Jobs earned a salary of only $1 per year as CEO but he was worth $8.3 billion in 2010 according to

Forbes. In August 2011, he resigned as CEO of Apple and he died of cancer in October 2011.

Os famosos verbos frasais, costumam causar uma certa confusão porque não temos elas em português, mas se você praticar e estudar em frases fica muito mais fácil de entender. Aqui estão alguns exemplos abordados nesse podcast. Ouve lá!

Take off - tirar (uma peça de roupa, por exemplo) ou decolar um avião.

Go on, go ahead - continuar com algo, prosseguir.

Go along with - se dar bem com alguém, ter um bom relacionamento.

Go through - vasculhar, procurar algo.

Go Back - retroceder, retornar, voltar atras em algo.

Go down with - ficar doente com alguma doença.

Go without - Ir sem, no sentido de ter que se virar sem algo.
