Childrentalk is one of the largest companies dedicated to the design and production of language learning software. Recently, one of their projects has gone viral on networks after a London school demonstrated that their students made progress in their learning process after using the program for a while. The University of London conducted a study in which it was shown that students progressed after 6 weeks of using the application.
The name "Childrentalk" comes from the "goal of teaching children from different parts of the world". According to the founder, it is designed for children who do not have access to these kinds of resources. In several countries around the world, education is free, and this has resulted in teachers being overloaded with labor. However, it is not taken into account that educating children from developing countries has several advantages. The founder believes that educating these children can contribute to the economy of the countries, as they will learn to keep issues such as overpopulation under control.
Childrentalk's technology director explains that the children are gathered in groups of 15 to 20 students and taken to a special classroom to interact every other day with the devices for approximately 40 minutes. Each class is managed by an international volunteer and there is a virtual teacher who guides the student through the application. It is important to emphasize that each child learns at his or her own pace.
The material used by the application is approved by the ministry of education of the places where it is applied, to ensure that there are no cultural misunderstandings. The success of the project lies mainly in the inclusion of culture and deals with issues related to customs and the role of women in society.
The project is funded by people from wealthier countries who purchase their own language version of the application. The profits are used to spread the application to hard-to-reach areas. One of the keys to the success of this technological model has to do with the motivation that children have to learn, in addition to the fact that they normally absorb a lot of information at this age.
