If we can sense/feel these impulses we get the info being carried by them.  If we don't sense/feel these impulses the information remains absent from our awareness.

Empathic

Telepathic

Observing

Aware 

Attention powers

Seeing things and observing the connections between them are two entirely different matters.

Two different sensing systems are involved.
