Football is officially back.
The Buffalo Bills kicked off their 2022 training camp at St. John Fisher University on Sunday, (un)officially commencing a 2022 NFL season that figures to be a successful one for the team. Though we’re through just two days of practice sessions, storylines are already starting to emerge from the suburbs of Rochester.
A number of talking points originate from the slot, as wide receivers Isaiah McKenzie and Khalil Shakir have shined throughout the first two practices. Second-round pick James Cook, a running back who was selected primarily due to his ability as a pass-catcher out of the backfield, has also made an immediate impact in the passing game, with both he and undrafted rookie Raheem Blackshear already sticking out. Defensively, it’s been rookie linebacker Terrell Bernard who has stolen the majority of the headlines, with superstar pass-rusher Von Miller further making his presence known on day two of camp.
Though the team is (expectedly) experiencing growing pains, the foundation for a Super Bowl contender is there. On this episode of the Cover 1 Roundup, hosts David Faux and Kyle Silagyi discuss their reactions to and takeaways from Buffalo’s first two practice sessions.
