Chinese judges have shown some big interest in setting out global FRAND rates, which will have much bigger global impact.  To do this right, what is required?  what are the contextual issues and foundations that should be built? This session provides a quick overview of what He Jing wrote in his article "The science of China FRAND rate-setting".

China’s IP Antitrust Guidelines had been a work in progress for almost 6 years before it suddenly surfaced up earlier this month in an official publication.  We are sharing some preliminary thoughts with some historical overview.

China published its copyright law amendments for public amendments and the second reading is done early August.  Audio-visual works are now officially recognized.  But the powers of licensing by radio and television stations raised lots of discussions, so are the provisions related to copyright misuse.  The proposed amendments have been going on since 2013.  We shall see the final round of reading done by the end of this year.

Last time China's patent law amendment happened in 2008.  The biggest features in this round of amendment includes patent term extension and patent linkage for pharmaceutial patents.  what is so important? Could the amendment really elevate the incentives of innovation?
