Rich Newell is the President and CEO of Tower Health’s Pottstown and Phoenixville Hospitals, which are part of the three-hospital system in Southern Pennsylvania. Before his time with Tower Health, Rich spent five years at Carlisle Medical Center, where he took on the leadership role as the CEO in 2013. He graduated from Berry College with a degree in business administration and management, from Temple University Graduate school with his master’s in physical therapy, and from Temple University with his doctorate in physical therapy.

Being a leader means following your instincts, and that is what Rich Newell has been doing since the early stages of his leadership roles. When the pandemic hit and the uncertainty began to appear, Rich knew he needed to take action to protect his employees and community. How? The key was open and honest communication. Rich says that when you’re not honest, you lose all credibility. Instead of rushing forward and making emotional decisions, he suggests taking your time and making informed decisions that benefit the good of everyone.
