  • Adam Fletcher - Woman's Wellbeing Club & Andy's Man Club

Hello and welcome to the next episode of the Inside Devon podcast, My name is Damien Clyburn and today we are joined by Adam Fletcher of the Women's Wellbeing Club.

Adam is extremely passionate about both improving both woman and men's mental health.

He has had a successful career as a chef and restaurant owner and has been instrumental in setting up and leading a group of facilitators running many men's and women's support groups nationwide.

Andy's Man Club and Women's Wellbeing Club are peer-to-peer support groups run by volunteers, which offer men and women a safe space to talk about their mental health. The clubs are free to attend, and there is no pressure for anybody to talk if they'd prefer not to.

Women's Wellbeing Club was founded in April 2019 by Adam Fletcher and Chris Martin. Having previously both worked closely with Andy's Man Club, Chris and Adam realised that there needed to be a safe and anonymous community group for women to offer the same support and guidance that had been so successful for men.

Women's Wellbeing Club started as a local group in Newton Abbot, with just 20 women attending their first club meeting. This meeting offered support and friendship to any woman, whether they needed a safe place to chat, or just needed the support of being with like-minded women in the local area. The tremendous success of this initial group has seen Woman's Wellbeing Club grow into a peer to peer support group with venues the length of the country.

During the show we will talk about the clubs, how they support people in the local communities and what their plans are for the future. We'll also talk about the other resources available to people to help with their mental health and a range of other interesting topics.

I hope you enjoy the show.
