Welcome back to another episode of the Max + Vince Podcast. It's another busy week for LAFC as the month of May comes to a close. First though, we've got a great guest again this week. LAFC assistant coach Marc Dos Santos joins us in the second segment. It's Marc's second stint with LAFC. Max and Vince ask what it was like coming back to the Club. Marc also gives us some insight into how the coaching staff works together on a daily basis and how there are no egos in the staff. Welcome back to another episode of the Max + Vince Podcast. It's another busy week around the LAFC Performance Center. Max and Vince recorded on Tuesday before LAFC took on Austin FC in a pivotal Western Conference matchup. The guys talk a little bit about the Austin match, including injury updates for players like Brian Rodriguez and Eddie Segura. Before that, we touch on the loss to Colorado. It was going to happen sooner or later, and whether it was altitude, fatigue, or something else, this was a dud for the Black & Gold. Max and Vince give their thoughts on the drain of an MLS season, especially when midweek matches start to become a thing. Because we're recording during a busy week and we won't get a chance to talk about Austin until next week, the guys welcome a very special guest. LAFC Director of Football Operations Marco Garcés joins the show. We had so much to cover, we're thinking we need to bring Marco back a few times. But in this episode, we talk to Marco about his background in Liga MX. He shares with us why he jumped at the chance to move to MLS and LAFC in particular. We ask about scouting talent in the Los Angeles area and what he looks for in a player. We also talk about his time as a scout for Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United and how scouting for LAFC, Pachuca, and Manchester United is similar in many ways. But first, Vince asks Steve how this LAFC team has progressed from preseason to being top of the table in MLS. Vince makes up for lost time by covering not one, but two LAFC wins. The guys talk about the 5-1 win over Orange County SC in the Open Cup. LAFC found a way to shake up their slow starts with some incisive moves early against OCSC and run out as comfortable winners. Jordan and Vince break down how LAFC broke the press and finished off a variety of chances, plus we talk about everyone getting involved in the win. After that, it's off to Cincinnati. This time, we're diving deep into the slow start talk by breaking down exactly what the team and coaching staff mean by a slow start. Jordan shares what Steve's approach is to halftime talks. And the guys talk about how LAFC is finding success with game-changing substitutes thus far in 2022. Then it's back to the MVP... the Mahala + Vince Podcast. There's no time to rest around here. After a 3-1 victory over Sporting KC this past weekend, LAFC embarks on a new journey in 2022. The U.S. Open Cup returns to the Banc this Wednesday. LAFC starts its run to the oldest trophy in the country against USL champions Orange County SC. Max is joined by LAFC legend Jordan Harvey this week with Vince away. Jordan gives makes the lowdown on his role within and around the club including his recent appearances on the LAFC broadcast. Then the guys dig into the match against SKC, which featured a Goal of the Year contender from Ismael Tajouri-Shradi and some very good work from a number of LAFC players. From there, the guys talk a little bit about the Open Cup and what it means to the Black & Gold. After that, the guys are joined by LAFC goalkeeper John McCarthy. John talks about growing up as a Philly sports fan, what excited him about joining LAFC, being a part of a deep goalkeepers group, and much more.
