Before abuse hot lines and safe houses were widespread, June Briand shot four bullets into her husband’s head and was sentenced to fifteen years to life. This is the shocking true story of survival—and the intense bond June shared with her pathologically violent husband, a monster who physically and sexually tortured, degraded and dominated her so relentlessly that she refused to believe he was dead even after she killed him......The Beast I Loved by Robert Davidson is available from WildBlue Press.
Author Robert Davidson will discuss battered women's syndrome and the answer to "why didn't she just leave?"
Robert Davidson speaks nationally and has written numerous columns for various publications. He examines family dysfunction, the psychology of violence, and the resulting tragedy. He was the winner of New England’s venerable Seacoast Writers Association award for Best Nonfiction.

  • Shattered Lives: Diane Dimond, Award winning investigative journalist
What responsibility does media and news reporting have to victims of crime? Our media culture has created pop icons out of criminals, yet we rarely remember the names of the victims. Is this fair and balanced journalism? Our guest, Diane Dimond will discuss her experiences as one of the country's most trusted source for the truth in media.
Diane Dimond is one of the few journalists who can claim proficiency as a crossover media personality – proficient in radio, television, print and as the author of three books. Many of us remember her as the anchor of daytime court coverage and Chief Correspondent of the CTV investigative Unit, as well as several other networks. She is best known for breaking the story of child molestation allegations against singer Michael Jackson in late 1993 and following the story through the entertainer’s criminal trial in 2005.
