Tom has a long association with the marine industry, having been an active sailor and student of boatbuilding in Southampton. His career has encompassed a wide range of market sectors, and he has gathered experience of business development, marketing and distribution in an international business environment. A nine-year period at the trade body for the leisure and superyacht sector was committed to developing the members’ export business. This included running UK pavilions at overseas shows, managing inward and outward missions, including Meet-the-Buyer events, and creating market reports and representation on government committees. Recent career experience included distributor management for a marine equipment company before joining SMI in February 2017 as the Business Development Director and Secretary to the Commercial Marine Group and Marine Science & Technology Group. Tom was appointed Chief Executive of the SMI in August 2020.

A master of all things yachting, Marcela de Kern Royer is a Monaco resident and founding owner of Onboard, a consulting firm based in Monaco specialized in sales to HNWI and luxury marketing in the yachting industry. Author of the first textbook ever written about the superyacht industry, she is also the founder of the superyacht industry-forum, a platform to connect all yachting professionals. She is currently developing Genoa Superyacht Hub and is a professor at the International University of Monaco. In her spare time, Marcela teaches yachting at the Yacht Club de Monaco.
Marcela has been the commercial director for ICON Yachts shipyard in the Netherlands and was also the founder and president of the Young Professionals in Yachting (YPI) Monaco. Alongside her professional work, Marcela is an influential social media figure in yachting. Marcela speaks six languages fluently: her native language of Spanish, English, French, Italian, Portuguese and German.

A Chartered Mechanical Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, with MSc in Innovation & Design for Sustainability, Matt established leading energy & sustainability company Bright Green Shoots in 2009 to help organisations embrace sustainable “green” innovation as the UK makes the transition to a low carbon economy. Matt has spun out two more companies, Free Wind Ltd in 2011 a prominent UK wind development company and Free Island Energy in 2014 a pioneer of remote renewables, eco-island and microgrid projects.
In 2016 Matt launched the UK's first peer-to-peer boat charter marketplace "the Airbnb of boats" www.borrowaboat.com.

When not leading the company's yacht work James will most likely be found either sailing around the waters of the Solent or soaring above the Hampshire countryside in a hang glider.
