This week Michael is back on the podcast, and makes Brent guess the movie based off it's 1-star review on Amazon. Then, Brent gets further into the 10 Key Truths to Understanding the “Whoever” Salvation that Jesus Provided he mentioned on Sunday:
- God does not will for any person to perish
- So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish. - Matthew 18:14
- The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. - 2 Peter 3:9
- God sent his Son to be the Savior of all people
- For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16
- God desires all people to be saved
- [God our Savior] who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. - 1 Timothy 2:4
- God purposes to show mercy to all people
- For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all. - Romans 11:32
- God is not partial in gifting his salvation to people
- So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality.” - Acts 10:34
- Jesus fully satisfied God’s wrath toward the sins of all people
- He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. - 1 John 2:2
- Jesus, through his crucifixion, is drawing all people to himself
- And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself. - John 12:32
- Salvation by grace is available for all who believe
- For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people - Titus 2:11
- For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. - Ephesians 2:8-9
- God’s will and human will both play a part in salvation
- O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not! - Luke 13:34
- A person can reject God’s purpose for their life
- ...but the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the purpose of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him. - Luke 7:30
- Working together with him, then we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain. - 2 Cor. 6:1
