Listen Later

In this PicklePalz Podcast tech update, host and CEO Adam Mendelsohn unveils the exciting new developments in Phase Two of the PicklePalz app — from new features and pricing models to the global vision driving the platform’s expansion.

Fresh off a major kickoff call with CEO Kelly Powell, Adam breaks down the design, function, and philosophy behind what will soon be the most advanced and community-driven pickleball app in the world.

Phase Two Development Kickoff

  • Official launch meeting held with CEO Kelly Powell, development team, and Adam’s father to map out Phase Two.

  • Wireframes and prototypes for new features are complete — including tournaments, subscriptions, and groups.

  • The development team continues to overdeliver with a sleek, easy-to-use interface designed for both new and veteran pickleball players.

Introducing PicklePalz Plus Subscription

  • PicklePalz Plus will offer enhanced features for players:

    • $2/month or $20/year subscription

    • Free entry or requests to join official tournaments

    • 24-hour customer support for issues such as DUPR score updates or tournament disputes

  • Designed to save players money while streamlining access to tournaments and community play opportunities.

Group Tiers for Clubs, Colleges, and Communities

  • New group packages will allow organizations to host internal tournaments without extra setup fees:

    • 50 players – $20/month

    • 200 players – $35/month

    • 300 players – $50/month

  • Universities, high schools, and local clubs can now manage members, host events, and build community entirely within the PicklePalz ecosystem.

  • Internal tournament hosting is free once a group is established — no extra fees, ever.

New Tournament Board & Tabs

  • The home screen now includes three clear tabs:

    • Pals (to connect with other players)

    • Groups (to join or manage communities)

    • Tournaments (to discover and join events)

  • The Tournament Board will allow users to search by date, location, and type (indoor/outdoor) and view detailed event pages with DUPR scores, entry info, and photos.

  • Players can even plan cross-country tournament routes, filtering events by state and date for travel play.

Map Feature for Court Discovery

  • Integration of the PicklePalz Map, powered by a new data team compiling verified courts nationwide.

  • Players can add or recommend courts directly in the app — building a crowd-sourced global directory of pickleball locations.

  • Filters for public/private, indoor/outdoor, and facility links will make finding a place to play easier than ever.

Global Growth & Accessibility

  • Phase Two will also introduce multi-language support, including Spanish and Hebrew, as PicklePalz expands internationally.

  • The app’s mission remains clear: to facilitate gameplay, build community, and make pickleball accessible to everyone, everywhere.

Adam’s Leadership Philosophy

  • Adam credits PicklePalz’s growth to listening first:

“We take feedback from players and colleges constantly. Every update we make comes from what the community tells us they want.”

  • With constant input from university partners, PicklePalz continues to grow as a community-first, player-driven platform.
