In S6E15 of Inside The Science, we’re highlighting the study, “Efficacy, safety, and dose-dependence of the analgesic effects of opioid therapy for people with osteoarthritis: systematic review and meta-analysis” with Dr. Christina Abdel Shaheed. She shares some of what prompted this study, the dilemma related to the use of opioids for patients with osteoarthritis, the results of the placebo-controlled studies which were included in this systematic review, the responsibility she feels clinicians have in informing the public of these results, the clinical implications and the big takeaways.
We hope to deliver this content to the committed professional who wants to improve his/her care and we hope to do it in a way that is easily accessible, the world over, in today's technological age.
