In 2023, the Maryland General Assembly approved the Cannabis Reform Act, which created an additional revenue stream for all counties in Maryland, including Charles County. This money became available through the state’s collection of funds from the sale of cannabis for recreational use. Tune in to hear Jake Dyer from Fiscal and Administrative Services talk about Charles County Government’s plan for this new special revenue fund!

On July 24, 2024, Charles County Government purchased the old Sears building, located at the St. Charles Towne Center, for $7.5 million. To support the construction of the building to turn it into a sports and wellness facility, the project will be funded from a combination of general obligation bonds, fund balance and state funds. Throughout the month of April and into May, Let's Get Fiscal will have weekly "Budget Bite" mini-episodes to give quick overviews of what was presented and what's coming next! The Commissioners will vote to approve the FY2025 budget on Tuesday, May 14th!
