  • Trump names new ICE Director nominee
President Donald Trump has announced that he will nominate Lance Schroyer to serve as the next director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Schroyer is a former Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper and a United States Marine Corps veteran with about 29 years of law enforcement experience. At the time of his nomination, he was serving as a senior adviser to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin. If confirmed by the United States Senate, Schroyer would replace the agency's acting leadership. David Venturella is expected to continue serving in an acting capacity until the confirmation process is complete. ICE has not had a Senate-confirmed director since 2017.

  • Trump wants his threat capability maintained
Recent comments by Donald Trump about military policy, the idea that he "wants his threat capability maintained" generally aligns with his longstanding position that the United States should preserve a strong deterrent. In that context, "threat capability" usually refers to maintaining credible military strength—including conventional forces and the nuclear deterrent—so that adversaries believe the U.S. has both the ability and the willingness to respond if necessary. Supporters argue this helps deter conflict through strength, while critics argue that emphasizing military threats can increase tensions and the risk of escalation.

According to recent reporting, Harvey Levin said that the anonymous sender has continued contacting TMZ with repeated messages claiming to have information about Nancy Guthrie. The latest reported email says the sender claims to possess:
    • A video allegedly showing Nancy and her purported abductor on the day she disappeared.
    • Photos and the identities of two alleged kidnappers.
    • A hidden phone where this material is supposedly stored.
    • A demand for payment in Bitcoin in exchange for the phone's location and password.
Levin has said the sender has been persistent, sending more than a dozen messages. However, he has also emphasized that TMZ has not verified the claims and has turned the communications over to the FBI rather than treating them as established fact. Authorities are investigating the tips but have not publicly confirmed that the sender has genuine inside information.

  • Venezuela earthquake aftershocks will continue 'for years' - Seismologist
Seismologists say it's entirely plausible that aftershocks from Venezuela's recent twin earthquakes could continue for years, although they are expected to become less frequent and generally weaker over time. The warning follows the rare "seismic doublet" that struck northern Venezuela on June 24, 2026: two powerful earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 occurring just 39 seconds apart. Doublets are uncommon and can leave the surrounding fault system under stress, increasing the likelihood of a prolonged aftershock sequence.

  • What a shot-down US pilot saw just before ejecting over Iran
The pilot's description has drawn attention because it may indicate an advanced form of drone swarm technology, where multiple unmanned aircraft coordinate their movements to complicate detection and overwhelm enemy defenses. U.S. intelligence officials have reportedly been analyzing the account to determine whether the formation represented a new Iranian capability or whether other factors contributed to the shootdown. The exact cause of the aircraft's loss remains under investigation.

  • What Colombias new president means for the fight against drugs
Gustavo Petro when he first became president in 2022, his election marked a significant shift in Colombia's approach to drug policy. Instead of emphasizing eradication and military operations alone, Petro argued that the decades-long "war on drugs" had largely failed to reduce cocaine production or consumption while contributing to violence and environmental damage.
