Life Lessons from the Third Door by Alex Banayan- Part Two!!

Sometimes, we have to tow the unconventional path in some areas of our lives right.... My brother recently shared Alex Banayan's book, The Third Door with me and the first few chapters made me feel this is just the right one for anyone taking any unconventional path towards success in life! 

In today's episode, I share key life lessons I picked up from the first few chapters of this book which include the facts that;

-If we want to take the unconventional path, we need to seek information from the right people.

-If we want to get certain opportunities,  we're going to have to be pretty persistent.

-We're going to have to be willing to face our fears if we want to fulfill the personal mission that we have!

Sometimes, we're just going to have to go ahead and take that dive instead of waiting to have everything perfectly lined up right!

Some pointers for starting small which I'll be sharing with you in today's session include;

-Searching for free courses, free sessions on YouTube, Spotify, IG, etc that we can learn from if we haven't yet made the money for paid courses.

-Considering becoming a volunteer/intern to get first-hand skills.

-Starting of by selling our first product or first few products online rather than waiting to open up a "whole shop"

And then when we do these, we can get benefits such as

-Invaluable experience

-An improved professional network/customer base.

-The ability to earn income from our skills.

She encouraged us all to go out and begin with the little steps needed to make out businesses work and not wait on anyone to come make us successful.

"Get started, take the chance" - Mrs. Dorcas M-Aggrey admonished us during the discussion we had. She shared with us that she started her Youtube Channel - Kikiworld_SRH Corner without being fully equipped with the skills to run it but she decided to go ahead and start and figure it out along the way.

 Since then, she has been able to bring value to hundreds of people who access the channel and enabled them to access information regarding their reproductive health in a private, convenient manner for them.

As part of this discussion to mark International Women's Day, our guest, Dorcas also shared how her passion for the Reproductive Health Work she does for young people is inspired by the fact that the fact that young ladies gave birth at an earlier age than expected does not mean that their career aspirations they have should end there. A key point that she also shared with us how we all still have a role in Breaking the Bias and eliminating the disparities that affect women in the work world, despite the efforts made so far to achieve gender equality. 

Let us all continue to #BreaktheBias and call out gender stereotypes in our immediate spaces. We all have a role to play in achieving gender equality!
