Jesus' healing of a woman hunched over for 18 years and then teaching to the people offers great insight into Jesus wants to lift us up from what weighs us down (Luke 13:10-21).

 Like Peter we often feel weighted down by failure and want to go back to some familiar place in the past, but Jesus comes to us and offers us forgiveness, restoration, and a new future (John 21)

 Like many of us, Martha is anxious and stressed about doing lots of good things, but Jesus points to the "one thing" that can change everything that Mary discovered, and we can too! (Luke 10:38-42)

 Jesus' response to a woman with a tainted past who shows an extravagant act of gratitude has much to teach us about forgiveness and grace (Luke 7:36-50)

 Like the disciples, we often feel overwhelmed and under-resourced by the needs around us.  But like the disciples and the little boy who offered what he had, with God's blessing we can help meet the needs around us and grow personally and spiritually (John 6)
