What are the Water tentacles of the heart?

• The number seven is the number of potential. And Water is all about potential!
• Waters don't mind waiting because they live in anticipation.
• You're not a freak or an alien... you might just be WATER!

• Water is the most varied Elemental type.
• Waters excel in an emergency.
• Drama, trauma and the Dalai Lama - Waters love intensity and quietude/wisdom/meditation - the challenge is to have good intensity not bad intensity in life.
• Likely Water tentacles are: Fear, Apathy, Over-Indulgence and Deep-Seated Anger.
• The emotion associated with Water is often translated as "fear" but we like to use the word "anticipation."
• Fear as a negative emotion is more like PTSD. It's about freedom... do you have the freedom to drive on the highway even if you feel afraid?
• Anticipation should be a really wonderful feeling of excitement about the future.
• The Thirteen Ghost Points in Pod 29 and Pod 30.
• The Apathy tentacle is like being frozen in fear - like the Deer in the Headlights or Woolly Mammoth version of Water - a refusal to move and flow.
• The feeling of lack can bring out the over-indulgence tentacle for Waters.
• Waters can tend to not want to confront and stuff their anger, which causes the Deep-Seated Anger tentacle.
• To free yourself from these tentacles, do the Free Your Heart meditation in the Stage Two of Alchemy meditations in the Alchemy Learning Center.

 

 

 

One might be like a still pool of water and one might be like a rushing river, and those two don't seem alike at all... but wait a while, a couple minutes, a couple hours... time doesn't matter to water. They might even switch places energetically because all waters have the capability of being a calm lake or a tsunami.

 

For Metals, a Free Heart can mean the difference between flying and falling. How can the Metal Elemental type free their hearts and fly free in life? Can you let the power of the Metal Lungs let go of deep-seated anger and jealousy to fly their magic carpet through life instead of falling and going splat?

"If you can say that you always do this particular thing whenever that particular situation happens, the question is why ... and at the core of this is the idea that those issues probably come from your heart pains, which come from past experiences that we can't let go of, and are haunted by -- even if it's completely unconscious."

What are the Metal tentacles of the heart?

• Apathy and Deep Seated Anger are the the primary tentacles for Metal people (bonus: Temptation and Jealousy).
• The Yin nature of Metals makes them more reserved and observant - less "overly involved" - so more prone to retreat and shutting down.
• A Metal person's nightmare could have them feeling disconnected and unable to find the way back.
• The Apathy is the feeling that they'd rather do nothing -- life is just too painful -- when they've experienced deep trauma and the disconnect can feel all encompassing.
• Apathy can be a mechanism where total surrender of CONTROL (especially in instances of trauma and abuse) allows for the Metal person to survive the circumstances of their environment.
• Even if they aren't doing something about it, a Metal person is going to feel Deep Seated Anger at the injustice of the situation; this could be suppressed and building up until a time when it explodes!
• Metals tend not to overindulge on things like food, though they might feel tempted by things they aren't supposed to have...
• A Metal person can get really stuck in addiction if it feeds the impulse to be non-compliant with a norm (they follow the rules but find ways to be slightly deviant) -- think about the "cool" smoker.
• Moxibustion or incense could help to offset some feelings of lack if a Metal smoker decides to quit.
• Metal Jealousy is about not getting the RESPECT they deserve, and seeing others get it.
• The Free Your Heart Meditation can help you to re-write the memories of experiences which have caused these tentacles to develop and create triggers in your life today.

What are your Earth tentacles of the heart?

• What would happen if the Earth came to an abrupt halt?!
• Revisit Pod 2 and Pods 12-16 to brush up on basics of the Five Elements
• Two types of Earth: Stomach and Spleen. What does each mean?
• Food can play a major role in an Earth person's life...sometimes positive, sometimes negative.
• Earth people sometimes struggle with feelings of lack, coupled with a denial of this feeling, and this can occasionally lead to... Overindulgence.
• Some Earth people have tentacles that mess with their appetite, and may develop an eating disorder.
• The flavor of Deep Seated Anger for Earth is Resentment, and when unaddressed this can come out in some not-so-nice ways...
• Earth is right in the middle of Yin & Yang, and has some of both aspects.
• Earth Apathy can be understood as an extreme version of putting others' needs ahead of their own
• Occasional Jealousy (or Envy) can happen for Earths, especially when coupled with the deep seated anger and/or resentment.
• Earth people do not like feeling like they've been "duped"!
• How to address these tentacles? Earth goes into problem solving mode -- but can go round and round--so it's important to look inward.

Supreme lover or supreme controller? Which are you? Are you trying to fill a hole of lack of love? Are you getting the love you deserve? Or are you trying to control everything and everyone around you? What stokes your fire and how can you spark your authentic heart again?

Maybe they also even got bullied in school, and maybe it came more from this feeling of isolation among friends. So that could be where Fire might feel a lack of love. And then, you know, when fire's not loved... it's disastrous.

• Fires tend towards over-indulgence, temptation, ego/pride and jealousy.
• Why Fires love a good smorgasbord
• The over-indulgence tentacle - filling the lack of love hole
• The temptation tentacle - also filling the lack of love hole
• Demi-sexual, and being attracted to those you have an emotional attachment to
• Healing the tentacle by going through the past and rewriting it
• The ego/pride tentacle - coming from the Fire need to be the Supreme Controller
• The jealousy tentacle - comparing yourself to other who have the love
• For the Trekkies out there - Smorgasborg!

Fires love a lot of variety. We love to see variety everywhere we look in our visual field. That's why parties are so cool. There's lots of color, there's lots of people, and you know, the people are the most interesting.

So let's just say you're Fire and you have a feeling of lack inside, deep inside. that would be a heart pain. And that makes you feel like you need to fill this, lack - like a giant hole inside. And it's a constant sense of hunger. And so instead of going out and making friends and doing your fun Fire thing, you stand by that smorgasbord at the parties and stuff yourself nervously, and then you go home and eat an entire container of Paul Newman's O's.

• Water has the ability to shift between varying states of being, sometimes within a single day.
• Waters’ true nature best described as a state of stillness and movement happening simultaneously.

• Waters want experiences and adventures; this could mean traveling and exploring, or it could mean reading about the adventures of others.
• Waters are all about wisdom, getting to the deeper knowing that’s underneath the fabric of existence.
