Mary Bellamy is a licensed illustrator who works from her home studio in Los Angeles. She works on iconic franchises such as My Little Pony, Marvel, DC Comics, Ghostbusters, Adventure Time, and Rick and Morty. She has crafted over 5,000 artist trading cards for Upperdeck, Topps, Rittenhouse, and more. Through writing, coloring, editing, and illustration, her work has been published in over 250 books. She also publishes her two series, Ah Heck!! and Faux Facts – The Truth Can Be Strange!

October 06, 2025 Inspired Ink #78 - Javier Hernandez of Latino Comics Expo
We have Javier Hernandez with us this week! We talk about his road of making independent comics, how to have a convention that supports the artists, highlighting culture through art and so much more!

Javier Hernandez began publishing through his own imprint in 1998 with the debut issue of El Muerto the Aztec Zombie. In 2007 a film adaptation of El Muerto was released, for which Javier served as Associate Producer. In 2011 he co-founded the Latino Comics Expo, the nation's first comic convention dedicated to spotlighting the work of Latino creators in comics and related popular arts. Since 2003 he's been teaching comic book classes throughout Los Angeles and also lectures at museums and libraries about his career in comics.

Bio: I am the writer and creator of Earic, a 124 page Sci-Fi graphic novel set in the universe of Avalon. Earic is a book set amid war and follows a father faced with charges of treason and a world that wants him dead as he is confronted with unimaginable obstacles to save his sick son. As a Professor of Screenwriting and with decades of writing experience, I’m so happy to have finally finished my first novel that took nearly a decade to complete. Moving forward in my career, I look forward to continuing to create more and more graphic novels .
