Educational environments must be on the leading edge of the technology that is shaping the world our students will soon be running. Consequently, the integration of technology in education and curriculum has never been more relevant than it is today. Technology in education, more than ever before, affords our students incredible opportunities through important shifts in methodology such as personalized learning and it reinforces important life skills such as creativity, critical thinking and collaboration.
The launch of our 1:1 iPad program some five years ago was an important step forward for the students at Good Shepherd, equipping them with the kinds of skills and relevant educational components those devices provided. We all understand, however, that technology changes rapidly. Over the course of those last five years, much has changed in the world of educational technology. Again, we find ourselves asking the same questions we did back then. Are we providing the most relevant educational tools we can to our students today? Is what we are using in the classroom on a daily basis the best device for our students today and in their immediate future?
After much research and consultation, including the survey many participated in, we feel it is time to introduce a new device for our middle school students. We will be moving all middle school students to a school-owned Chromebook device beginning in the 2018-2019 school year.
The middle school faculty is very excited about this device and the direction we are headed. We want the students, parents and other constituents to be equally excited about the future of educational technology at Good Shepherd.
Listen as we go through our Parent Information Session and explain a bit about what is to come at Good Shepherd.
