Growing up in the City of Commerce in Los Angelos, Marlene is one of five children and living within a vibrant Hispanic community, with religion being at the forefront, her culture and her relationship with her father was always important to her.

Naturally curious child, she always had questions about her believes, only to be brushed aside. And then it happened, she was introduced to Islam through research on world religions she had to do for a class. It captured her heart immediately. Now that she could see Islam, she saw it everywhere.
