The Journey of 'Hameed Yusuf'
Host: Sarrahh AlKutb
Living in San Diego, Hameed is a retired military personal and part time anthropologist and volunteers as a social worker.
Born to a school teacher and a barbour, Hameed was raised as catholic and was always inquisitive as he grew up having questions about his spiritual connection.
Joining the military service in 1988, he had training in counter terrorism, and after 9/11 he was sent to Bahrain and where he operated out of the Persian Gulf. He always felt the Adhan kept pulling at his heart strings regardless of the fear he harbored towards Islam while being on his tours.
After returning home, as a veteran, he went through many levels of fear and resentment and emotionally issues. And then one day on a hunting trip, he heard the call again. He heard the Adhan right there in the middle of the woods. This stopped him literally in his tracks.
Shortly after, Hameed met with an imam who invited him to attend lectures and come to the mosque. It took Hameed a few times to realize the softening of his heart Subhan Allah and that God had turned that fear into belonging and hope. Hameed said he felt he had finally found his purpose and felt like he was home - his heart had finally opened through his journey to Islam.

The Journey of 'Aisha Charves'
Host: Sarrahh AlKutb
Our seventh story is Aisha Charves, tells her inspiring story of courage, determination, patience, persistence and gratitude. As a teenager, Aisha converted to Islam, a decision that she made in a time when kids her age were still figuring out their own identities. Having grown up in Idaho and coming from a religious evangelical community, Aisha first came across Islam on a missionary trip to Indonesia where she met a Muslim woman who told her that she too loved Jesus.
This sparked the first steps towards her journey to Islam as she had so many questions about the practices and the religion. Beginning to doubt what she had been taught all those years, she realized that her views were very much aligned with being Muslim and she felt that she found the thing that she was looking for all her life but did not know was missing. And it was always there.
