Swami Kriyananda reads and comments on his book Conversations with Yogananda. The TV series A Way to Awakening was recorded in India.
Swami Kriyananda reflects on his initial skepticism and disbelief in the need of guidance of teachers, only to finally find his guru, Paramhansa Yogananda – a man he recognized as truly genuine. Kriyananda states that when he found Autobiography of a Yogi, it was a moment of joy and tears, a turning point that led him to discipleship.
Kriyananda emphasizes that the spiritual path is not one of hardship but a journey to joy. Swami explains that the further you go, the greener everything becomes. When you do the will of God and Guru, everything flourishes.
Kriyananda shares his personal experiences of both the challenges and the divine support he received while building Ananda, a spiritual community. He explains that spirituality is not about withdrawal but engagement, and requires taking action and trusting in God’s plan. As the Gita teaches, we all must do our duty and fight the battle of life. Within that struggle there is both a support and power that will feed your inner life. Kriyananda urges us to call out to God and live for God. Make him your goal. He assures that whatever we give to God, He will give you back a hundredfold.
