María Zavaleta is a third-year law student at the University of San Francisco School of Law. María was seven years old when she came to the United States from El Salvador. Although María is a US Citizen, her brother is a TPS holder. After a series of TPS terminations, Maria became involved with the National TPS Alliance in 2017, organizing in Los Angeles. She believes her brother and all TPS holders must have permanent residency now. Maria decided to use her privilege and go to law school to become an immigration attorney. Her dream is to represent her brother and all the "tepesianos" she has met along the way in adjusting their status to permanent residents.
