This Month’s Mini Episode Series is a little different than most. I will be speaking with women who are making current changes in their community, and we will be learning as the audience how we can make a difference too. I hope you are ready because we’re in for a deep conversation.
Stephanie Arely Zacatares is an aspiring law student majoring in Sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Stephanie is the daughter of former TPS holders from El Salvador. She began to advocate for her family after TPS terminations in 2017 with the National TPS Alliance. She believes that TPS holders have earned the right to permanent residency with a pathway to citizenship. After being exposed to needed for pro-bono attorneys with immigrant backgrounds, she switched her career aspirations in hopes of one day giving back to her community. Since the termination of TPS, Stephanie has transferred from a community college to a four-year university. Now she is in the process of studying for her LSAT while also preparing to be a mother. Last year, after living in the U.S. for over 24 years, her father finally obtained permanent residency. Despite her parents being permanent residency status, she advocates for the TPS holders and believes that now more than ever TPS should receive permanent residency.
