Analytics may be descriptive, predictive or prescriptive and are described as the systematic use of data and related business insights developed through applied analytical disciplines to drive fact-based decision making for planning, management, measurement and learning. Many of the challenges facing the U.S. health care system can be attributed to ineffective sharing, gathering and use of health data and information.
