We are getting back to the basics of our faith, knowing that mastering the basics is the key to any endeavor in life. In Hebrews 5:11-6:3, the Word rebukes us for not growing beyond the elementary principles of Christ, but then encourages us to press on to maturity by building upon these principles. Each week, we will address one of the elementary principles of following Jesus. In today’s sermon, we teach our fourth principle: Instruction About Baptisms. Each person is blessed (and commanded) to have three distinct experiences as they become followers of Christ; each with its own purpose and outcomes: salvation, water baptism, and Holy Spirit baptism.
