This is the Integrated Podcast: Episode 3 Erik Hansen
Eric Hansen on Faith, Pain, and Building a College Strength Program
In episode three of the Integrated Podcast, host interviews Eric Hansen, the first on-staff strength and conditioning coach at Westmont College, about purpose, faith, athlete-centered coaching, and building a sustainable performance program with limited resources. Hansen shares how early swimming success felt empty, a pivotal spiritual experience at 15, and how a severe back injury at 15 led to years of chronic pain and ongoing problem-solving that shaped his training philosophy. He discusses finding relief through PRI concepts (including a left AIC pattern and a dental appliance), the importance of choosing frameworks with explanatory power, and using practical decision filters (meaningful, measurable, manageable) for screening and programming. He emphasizes not forcing athletes into ranges they don’t have, defining technique as posture-breath-tension (PBT), using VBT tools, prototyping systems, and optimizing rather than maximizing training while Westmont transitions into NCAA requirements and new facility space.

This is the Integrated Podcast: Episode 4 Daniel Guzman, MS, CSCS
What does it look like to follow your calling, serve others, and build a life that leaves a lasting impact?
In Episode 4 of the Integrated Podcast, Chris Ecklund sits down with Daniel Guzman, Head of Performance for 3X4 Genetics, owner of Hype Wellness Studio, and former strength and conditioning coach with the national soccer team, LA Galaxy, and Los Angeles Football Club.
Daniel shares his journey from professional soccer to genetics and wellness—and how faith, a heart for service, and a willingness to take difficult steps have shaped his work. We discuss launching a business, learning to say no, balancing competing responsibilities, and pursuing a mission bigger than personal achievement.
We also explore the role of genetic testing in personalized health and performance, including how results may inform conversations about training, recovery, nutrition, and injury risk. Along the way, we discuss the limits of genetic information, the influence of mindset, and why health needs to remain central to the pursuit of performance.
Whether you’re an executive, business owner, coach, or someone working to improve your health, this conversation offers perspective on making intentional decisions—with your body, your business, and your calling.
In this episode:
• Faith, purpose, legacy, and servant leadership
• Building Hype Wellness Studio and taking steps before every answer is clear
• Setting boundaries and learning when to say no
• Genetics, gut health, food quality, and epigenetics
