Tomorrow night welcome my special guest from New York.. Kortnee Simmons.
With the release of his first single, ‘Corner of Okay,’ a David Guetta feat. Usher-esque collaboration with the phenomenal producer Blake Akana Chung; Kortnee has garnered international press, rave reviews, and over 1.2M views on his YouTube/VEVO Channel. Boasting a whopping 74K following on Twitter, he is already on his way to be known around the world. Kortnee has previously performed alongside Chris Brown, Betty Wright, Maurice Starr, Támar Davis, Baauer, Leikeli-47, and many other artists through various mediums. His latest release is considered “the soundtrack to happiness, heartbreak, and everything in between.” The project is entitled, ‘Euphoria: The Live EP’.
Seemingly following in the footsteps of his uncle Joey (Rev. Run of RUN DMC), Kortnee seamlessly transitions between music and acting. The young crooner can be seen in Baz Luhrmann’s hit Netflix Original Series, ‘The Get Down’. The show follows the evolution of hip-hop in the Bronx and NYC in 1970’s and 1980’s. Despite his last name, Simmons goes on to say, “Being apart of this show has taught me so much. Not only about music, but my history. It transported me and made me feel like I was apart of that time.” His acting career also credits Kevin Phillip’s breakout film, ‘Super Dark Times, ‘Teen Nick Top 10 with Nick Cannon, ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,’ and much more.
