In the book, "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff", Richard Carlson reminds us all not to live life as if everything is an emergency. That can be easier said than done when we feel pulled in a hundred different directions by work, family, obligations, and everything needs to "get done" by some arbitrary deadline.
A couple things to remember:
**Find ways to force yourself to be bored and break the cycle of emergent, anxious, action.
Also-
**When you're tempted to get mired in feelings brought on by someone else's words or actions, give them a break
A practice of daily gratitude, meditation, or prayer is a good way to recenter and protect yourself from unwanted feelings and emotions.
