In this episode in our series during the month of August, with all the stressful events going on in our country and the world today, I thought it would be helpful to further explore what we can do to help our kids to reduce the stress that they are experiencing in our world today which starts with the amount of stress that parents are feeling with our economy, higher prices for food, gas, and school supplies to thinking about returning to school which may or may not be a source of comfort for kids, especially in relation to our current climate with social media, political divides and school shootings. We can get caught up in a cycle of repetition and habits when we are overwhelmed by life and our responsibilities. Later, we can look back and wish that we had been more thoughtful about how to address certain events in the life of our family better, especially when it comes to our children.
Parenting is the best and most challenging job of our lives. On most days, it requires our full attention, is hard work, and can use up much of our energy. It is also made up of some of the sweetest moments of our lives, and we would not trade it for the world. With all that is happening in our country today, It is helpful to teach our children how to manage the uncertainties of life at the level they can understand.
