In addition to her 20+ years working in hospice and palliative medicine, she has a wealth of experience dealing with trauma, mental health and the painful repercussions of sexual violence. Ladybird has guided medical practitioners, families and private caregivers, as well as directors of programs and institutions around the world on how to be present to experiences that may be hard to hear or bear witness to. Her role as program director includes training and supervising the Brother’s Keepers Peer Support Crisis Counseling and Compassionate End of Life Program. Ladybird is currently a private palliative care consultant with Mettlehealth -www.mettlehealth.com and co-facilitates discussions about the practical challenges as well as the mystical realms of chronic and terminal illness through Commonweal's Cancer Care Help Program, Healing Circles, and UCSF/MERI Center's Last Acts of Kindness.Marvin MutchMarvin Mutch is a formerly incarcerated prison reform activist and co-founder of the Humane Prison Hospice Project. Mr. Mutch served 41 years of an indeterminate 7-year to life sentence for a wrongful conviction suffered in 1975. He was freed in 2016 due wholly to the tireless efforts of Professor Heidi Rummel of the USC Post Conviction Justice Project, Professor Emerita Susan Rutberg from the Golden Gate University Innocence Project, and Attorney Michael Snedeker of Snedeker & Short.After a lifetime of experience advocating for the humane treatment and human rights of his fellow prisoners throughout the California prison system, Marvin is now set to apply his deep understanding towards advancing the human rights of incarcerated people everywhere.
