Today we continue with out 5th breath of the series. a new type of breath called Sitali Breath where you turn your tongue into a straw and breath in through the open straw and than breathe out through your nose.
This breath is cooling during the summer and calms down high anger and anxiety. Reach for it when you are really upset or angry with your teen or practice it daily to prepare for the onslaught of big feelings.
We also talk about our internal critical chatter that makes us feel like we are in fight or flight mode all the time and are always running away from the saber tooth tiger but can never escape from out own mind. That would make anyone anxious and burnt out.
two methods to stop the chatter:
1) Awareness noticing them compassionately and not resisting or reacting but allowing
2) Think a slightly better and true thought that you believe about yourself. Imagine what your good friends would say about you and your abilities and believe them. Imagine what you would say to a 4 year old when encouraging them.
I don't know is not an option.
If you do these two simple techniques and the breathing you will quiet those judgmental voices and be able to think more creatively from a place of curiosity and determination rather than fear.
