Warming climate has brought warmer oceans. In the summer of 2021 it also brought an unpredicted crash of salmon species in several river systems, including the Yukon and the Kuskokwim Rivers. Joining us this morning to talk with KYUK’s Olivia Ebertz is Mark Saunders with the North Pacific Anadromous Fish Commission. He is also the director for the “International Year of the Salmon,” which is an attempt to understand what is happening to ocean salmon habitat in the North Pacific.
