With International Women’s Day everywhere this week, we found ourselves talking about the irony of being asked to speak about women’s empowerment… for free.

The emails always sound lovely.
“We’d love to have you.”
“It’ll be great exposure.”
“We don’t have budget, but…”

And that’s where the discomfort sits.

Because there’s something deeply contradictory about celebrating women’s expertise, leadership and contribution — while simultaneously not valuing it enough to pay for it!
