    Michigan Holds Virtual Court
David F. Viviano is the 109th Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court.  He was appointed by Governor Rick Snyder in 2013 and elected to complete the remainder of his term in 2014.  He is the Supreme Court’s point-person for judicial training and statewide e-filing. Justice Viviano has participated in a number of initiatives to improve the administration of justice.
According to Justice Viviano the expanded use of videoconferencing technology to create “virtual” courtrooms has saved the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) nearly $5 million over the past two years. Because of this technology initiative, prisoners can participate in court hearings without the security risks and traditional costs involved in transporting them to court.  Currently, 417 courtrooms in Michigan have videoconferencing capabilities. Since its launch in 2010, the program has expanded so that high definition videoconferencing is installed in at least one circuit, district and probate court in all 83 counties. Seventy-eight counties now have videoconferencing systems in every courtroom.

  • Manage your passwords for free with Norton Identity Safe

by Rick Broida @cheapskateblog  May 6, 2015 8:02 AM PDT

As I’ve said many times before, a password manager is an absolutely essential tool. That’s why I routinely share deals on products like LastPass and RoboForm Everywhere.
Although many of them offer freebie versions, those are usually limited to a desktop client, with no syncing with the Web or mobile apps. And, trust me, syncing is something you really want. I can’t tell you how often I end up needing a password or other personal info when I’m out and about.
Typically you have to pay $20 to $40 per year for the privilege, but there’s an often-overlooked gem that will cost you nothing:Norton Identity Safe. Though once part of Norton’s paid security-suite offerings, this password manager is now a standalone product — and a free one at that.
