On July 3, our cohost Foster Braun suddenly cut the cord to his cable provider which began a journey that is still being unraveled. Contrary to many/most people's experience, Foster's experience both in store (on July 4th!!) and on the phone has been wonderful with Comcast representatives. Our tech teams stands by to help you with your calls from 6-7 PM on Saturday evening.

Shane Hamelin joins us to share his insights on the world of game play, a multi-billion dollar sport that was celebrated in Los Angeles a with E3. Meanwhile Cal Carson will unveil some of the features of iOS 12, the new operating system called Mojave from Apple. Gary Baker has a Tech Slice for us and Mike Brennan unveils a new video approach for MiTech News. It's all part of our July 4th celebration.

Hour 1 It's time for the Detroit Fireworks. As producers of the Ford Fireworks, The Parade Company selects the musical arrangement and works exclusively with Zambelli Fireworks to stage more than 10,000 pyrotechnic effects visible for miles along the Detroit River. This year’s show themed “Come Alive in the D!” will be choreographed again by world-renowned Patrick Brault, who has years of experience designing pyrotechnic displays including past Olympics celebrations. Hour 2 is Open Line question time with our listeners.

We had a surprise guest from Chicago, John Amici, part of the Bartolini Clan join us to talk about his adventures in family history as he compiled "Recipes from the Bartolini Kitchens". Foster shared his less than enjoyable "adventures" trying to cut the cord from Comcast and move to AT&T Direct TV now.

In our first hour we visit with Wayne State Prof. Giuseppe Santangelo who is also CEO of Skypersonic: Indoor Drones about the techniques he is applying from aerospace engineering to flying drones indoors commercially. Caston Thomas will talk about a new iPhone program designed to prevent addiction and Mike Brennan will bring us the top 3 headlines in MiTechNews this week. In hour 2: Gary's Tech Slice deals with the dark web.

Hour 1 is a Tech Roundtable with Foster, Ed, Cal and Caston and a visit from Mike Brennan, host of MiTechNews. Hour 2 is all about camping with the Michigan Science Center. In studio guest Shannon Snideman, Camp & Scout Program Manager, will open the world of science camping opportunities for kids at the Michigan Science Center. Caston Thomas leads the discussion.

Foster and Cal Carson manned the holiday program. Behind the scenes there was a switch to a new service provider (Smart Finds) that will bring lots of changes during this summer. In the second hour we had a studio full of bright young girls who were part of the GirsGetIT contest sponsor by Michigan Council of Women in Technology.

The Decline of Money

Decade by decade, America has been inching closer to a fully cashless society.

This week our nation took a giant leap closer to that goal with the May 14th announcement by the tax collector of Seminole County, Florida, that as of this summer Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash payments will be accepted by the county to pay taxes and state licensing fees.  Seminole County is an area with a population of approximately one-half million people.The county’s decision to go crypto potentially translates to hundreds of thousands of new cryptocurrency users.

The Great Debate: Yanny or Laurel
