Why! I was not aware of that?!
We end the interview with Jiří Janeček, the founder of the Czech Chamber of Sign Language Interpreters in the year 2000, 25 years ago.
He concludes our talk with a serious look at how we should use our responsibility wisely by being aware of our motivations and power. Let us reflect on this as we start the new year of 2026.

"You gotta keep 'em separated!"
We're still in the Czech Republic. Jirka details the first main goal of the Chamber of Czech Sign Language Interpreters. He takes us back to the connections at Charles University and the individuals there and abroad that helped evolved what Chamber has become. He gives us insight into the unique story of how Chamber was established the same year as the first Czech Deaf - controlled organization, Pevnost. And we talk about even more. Enjoy some history.

"Well, I think..." It doesn't matter what you think.
Part 2 of the conversation with Jiři Janeček in the Czech Republic. We learn how he started the Czech Chamber of Sign Language Interpreters and the American who influenced many at that time, encouraging them to boldly establish new organizations and to be proud of what they are and have.
That person was Vesta Sauter, surprisingly someone I know in the circle of life.

You love it or you hate it.
Yes, it's Culture Mapping, not Marmite. But it is a "sticky subject" to discuss.
We continue the conversation with Allyson Morgan as she explains the Culture Map developed by Erin Myers. These eight dimensions are a tool for sign language interpreters to improve our approach to our work and to our professional journey.

Not another meeting!
We need to know how the other half lives, our clients that is. We know that understanding the language is not enough. But do we know what parts of the dynamic situation we need to know?
Allyson Morgan speaks with me about the eight dimensions of Cultural Mapping in this interview. In part 1 she gives us her story and how it evolved into understanding cultural mapping.

Think a thought. Thought a think.
How do we do such a phenomenal thing as thinking during our work.?
I try something different in this episode. I take you for a walk outside while I talk. Listen to the sounds of the southside of Prague while I discuss our interpreting thought process and the skills we need to do so.
