This week we are shining a spotlight on intersex issues! Intersex individuals make up a very important but frequently overlooked part of our diverse community – time to focus on some of their experiences and opinions!

The Generation Next! crew discuss the significance of Intersex Awareness Day, which falls on October 26 each year, and briefly explain what the day means and talk about the on-going struggles intersex individuals go through.

Stephanie and Clayton chat with Andrea about her story! The trio discuss her life and experiences as an intersex woman, including  finding out that she was an intersex individual at age 30.

Dean is joined by a true pioneer within the LGBTI community; Tony Briffa, the former Mayor of the City of Hobson’s Bay. He talks frankly about his life growing up as Antoinette, why at 29yo he became Tony and how he happily identifies as both male and female.

Tal talks to Andy, the President of the Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome Support Group Australia (AISSGA), about a wide variety of issues including raising intersex children and inclusion in marriage equality for intersex individuals.
