Know Stroke Podcast Season 2 Episode 6Welcome back to the Know Stroke Podcast! Our guest today is Kaitlyn Jones. Kaitlyn is an occupational therapist and currently a Program Manager working with the XBOX Gaming Accessibility Team where she is able to use her clinical background and perspectives to help guide inclusive product design. She is very passionate about the ways in which technology that is accessible can enhance the quality of life of all people. She has done extensive research exploring the benefits of video game play that extend beyond fun and leisure to functional performance, mental health and social participation. She was the 2018 recipient of the Edward Leahy Jr Award for Innovation in Technology and the 2017 recipient of the Maria Gervasio Award for Outstanding Commitment to Professional Development in Occupational Therapy. Kaitlyn was inspired by her father who founded Warfighter Engaged in 2012. Warfighter Engaged is a on-profit with a mission to improve the lives of severely wounded and disabled warfighters through custom adapted devices. Serving as the Director of Clinical Outreach, Kaitlyn interfaces with clinicians, private practices, hospitals and other clinical organizations regarding the importance of inclusive design, adapted technology, and the benefits of video game integration into therapeutic settings.
