Kiyoshi Momose begins his 2nd season as Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Boston Red Sox after 15 years (2001-15) in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization in a variety of roles, most recently as Strength and Conditioning Specialist at the major league level. In addition to working with the big league club, Momose also oversaw the Pirates’ strength and conditioning program at their academy in the Dominican Republic. A native of Nagano, Japan, Momose earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Nippon College of Physical Education and his master’s degree in exercise physiology from the University of Central Florida. Momose, who is fluent in Japanese, English, and Spanish, served as strength and conditioning coach for the team of MLB stars manager by Red Sox skipper John Farrell that played in the Japan All-Star Series in November 2014. Momose began his baseball career as an intern in the Tampa Bay Rays minor league system.
