In November 2020, Daniella Levine Cava became the first woman and first person of Jewish descent to be elected Mayor of Miami-Dade County. Before being elected mayor she served as Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 8, a post she held from 2014 to 2020. She has spent much of her political career working to invest in public transportation, create affordable housing for families, and expand economic opportunity in Miami-Dade. In this week's interview, we talk to her about her affordable housing initiatives, her push for better public transportation in Miami-Dade County, and how her administration is handling the influx of immigrants and asylum seekers from the Caribbean.
