He is a world-famous neurosurgeon from The United Kingdom and was awarded the Order of the British Empire. Since 1992, he has been visiting Ukraine to improve our medical system and save people.
We met in Lviv in May 2024. He took part in the Lviv Media Forum and kindly responded to our invitation for the interview.
There are several documentaries made about Henry Marsh. He has already published 3 books, where he shares his professional and personal experiences sincerely, with a great deal of self-irony and humour. I hope our conversation with him will inspire you to read these books and change your perception of the doctor’s work, as mine changed 9 years ago.
We will talk about the Ukrainian medical system now and in the 1990s, the need for legal protection of patients in Ukraine, the balance between empathy and detachment that a doctor must maintain, palliative medicine and assisted dying and how Mr Henry's life changed after he became a patient himself. Now enjoy listening!
