I feel, it takes a lot to feel intimate with someone. It is never just about the sexual aspect, rather it’s all about the connection. The sense of safety in a relationship plays the most important part, I feel. You let your guards down and allow someone to be a part of the world that has only known you, protected you, and been your safe haven. That is intimacy to me. And I do not think it is only limited to romantic relationships, it very well extends to friendships and other platonic relationships, as well.
