Tabatha talks about her background working in Corrections.  Tabatha and Debi discuss the need for prison ministry, both because Jesus exemplified ministry to prisoners on the cross, and because it is important to help those who have been imprisoned successfully transition to a meaningful life once they are released.

Tabatha talks about the various ways that she helps reach prisoners including participating in Bible studies inside the prison walls, writing letters to prisoners, and working with a transition home that helps those released from incarceration get on solid footing so they are successful in their new life and don't return to jail or prison.

School Choice is on the ballot.  Even though the disastrous anti-ESA ballot initiative was removed, school choice is still on the ballot. Many candidates running for state level and legislative offices would love the opportunity to regulate private schools, restrict homeschooling and either eliminate ESA or make it so difficult to use, that parents leave the program. Your vote is crucial to protect school choice in AZ

Leisa also explains prop 318, the Protect Girls Sports Act. They discuss why it is important to vote yes.

Leisa and Debi also discuss voter apathy among Christians and why we cannot sit out this election. Local and state-level elections have a direct impact on our families. If you have already voted, encourage your friends and family to go vote as well.

This week, Debi is joined by Greg Blackie, Deputy Director of Policy at AZ Free Enterprise Club.

Greg explains how propositions get on your ballot and how the number tells you what type of initiative it is.  There are 8 statewide initiatives on your November ballot. Greg briefly explains what each of them will do if passed. 

Greg explains two of the propositions in greater detail. These are both measures that AZ Free Enterprise Club endorses.  The first is Prop141, Protecting our Freedom to Move. This would prohibit the government from tracking and taxing the miles we drive in our own vehicles. Efforts are underway in many states to control our freedom to drive. This would proactively stop this from happening in AZ. Greg recommends voting yes on this.

The second is Prop 144, Fast, Accurate, Secure, Transparent Election Results.  This initiative would ensure that only citizens vote in our elections, that voter id is required for all voting methods, prohibit foreign funding of our elections and create a mechanism to make ballot tabulation happen more quickly.  
This is also a recommended yes vote.

Finally, they talk about why this election is critical to keeping AZ Free and prosperous. This election is almost entirely Arizona based and this election will determine the future of school choice, affordability and our personal freedoms in Arizona. Please vote to keep AZ free!

Jenna and Debi discuss the issue of ballot initiatives. Jenna explains the ways in which an initiative can find its way on your ballot and explains why Arizona law is different than other states. They talk about why our law opens the door to out-of-state groups to spend millions to attempt to change our state laws.

They discuss the legal challenges Goldwater brought against Prop 212, the overreaching anti-ESA ballot initiative. It was removed from the November ballot due to duplicate and illegally obtained signatures.

Jenna also explains Prop142, the anti-DEI ballot initiative and Prop 320, which would require school districts to spend 60% of their funding directly in the classroom. Debi and Jenna discuss why they support both of these measures.

This week, Debi is joined by Jake Warner, senior counsel at Alliance Defending Freedom

Jake and Debi discuss recent rulings from the Supreme Court that upheld states' rights to define sex according to biology and to limit female sports teams to females only.  They discuss the cases in terms of Title IX and in terms of the 14th amendment, including potential broader implications that could protect other nonprofits like homeless shelters.  They also discuss that these rulings allow states to pass these types of laws but don't require them to protect girls' sports. That is one of the next battlegrounds.

They also discuss so called "conversion therapy" bans and how they dangerously limit counselors' ability to counsel according to their own conscience and according to client's wishes. For example, these types of laws allow counselors to push minors toward dangerous drugs, hormones and surgeries in an attempt to change genders but make it illegal for them to help minors become comfortable with their biology.
