In spring of 2025 Aubrey Marie was on Into The Music to talk about her fantastic debut album of all original songs, Where Is My Wizard of Oz. She was only eleven-years-old when she started writing those songs and was thirteen when it dropped in 2024. Aubrey is now set to release her follow up album called Creativity and it lives up to its name. Aubrey levelled up her songwriting, musicianship, and vocals and worked with producer David Pietila at SourceTrack Studio to create another all original album that belies the fact she's only fifteen. The writing and arranging on Creativity displays a maturity some veteran artists might envy. We're debuting five—count 'em: FIVE—of the new tracks as well as discussing the making of the album with darn near everyone involved in it.
Permission for the songs used in this show was given by Aubrey Marie and Nick Pari.
"Creativity," "Figment," "Knocking On Wood," "One in a Million," and "Never Enough" written and performed by Aubrey Marie

He's contributed guitar tracks to songs by Avril Lavigne, Liz Phair, Glen Campbell, Kelly Clarkson, LeAnn Rimes, Demi Lovato, Paul Stanley (of Kiss), Aretha Franklin, and lots more. He's worked on major motion picture soundtracks as well as on television shows. Add to that his current band called The Sea-Jays, a surf outfit that covers everything from classical compositions to unique solo arrangements of The Beach Boys and you have a guitarist who shines with the best of them. We have a different type of show for you this week. Into The Music host, Rob Marnocha, and 91.1 The Avenue's Ann Koenig were invited to be the panelists at Lawrence University's first ever live podcast forum for their Musician in Business Week in September. Emma Snyder, the Managing Director of Lawrence University’s Business and Entrepreneurship Center, created the event to help students and others in attendance understand the relationships between the podcast, The Avenue, and the local music scene. We discuss our roles in this musical ecosystem and how we work with each other to benefit all parties involved. Pay attention because you just might learn a thing or two about podcasting, radio, and/or the music industry along the way.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT:
Our thanks to Emma Snyder and the Lawrence University Business & Entrepreneurship Center for providing the audio for this podcast.

pat mAcdonald has had quite a career in music over the past four-plus decades. Starting out in the college bar scene in early 1980s Madison, WI, he and then wife Barbara K. progressed from The Essentials to Timbuk3 where their bandmate was a boombox. In 1986 they scored their first hit single "The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades" from their debut album Greetings From Timbuk3 on IRS Records. They even were the bar band in a major motion picture. Since Timbuk3's breakup in the mid 1990s, Pat has been busy making music as a solo artist, with melaniejane as Purgatory Hill, and with Eric McFadden in The Legendary Sons of Crack Daniels. Pat is one of the founders and organizers of the Steel Bridge SongFest and part owner of the Holiday Music Motel, both in Sturgeon Bay, WI. On top of that, did you know he collaborated with Cher? Led by Mark "Malibu" Sanders, The Wasagas’ catalog is filled with surf tunes that will have listeners rocking and rolling hard. No matter if their tunes have a punk edge, a little glitter-glam, or even a touch of country, The Wasagas bring a lot of fun that is sure to please. If there's one country artist who is on a steep upward trajectory, it's Kaylyn Sahs. One listen through her catalog demonstrates steady growth in her vocal and songwriting abilities. She's a young woman whose original songs are able to touch a wide demographic since a lot of what she writes is so relatable. A 2018 audition for American Idol got her the boost in confidence she needed to pursue music as a career and her parents are her biggest supporters taking on management, booking, and logistics duties. Kaylyn's faith is the greatest factor in her life for keeping it all real and her music serves to show what flows from her heart.

It's rare these days that an artist or band releases a full album that is a great listen all the way through. In 2025 Los Straitjackets did it with Somos Los Straitjackets and now The Tourmaliners are set to drop their new album El Gato and it's one of the best complete surf albums I've ever heard. The entire album takes you back to the golden age of early 1960s surf guitar with all the great subgenres and associated themes that made—and still make—surf music unique and yet accessible to just about everyone. We debut a number of songs from El Gato and we dig into how it was recorded with Deven, Joe, John, and Matt. Enjoy!

It's been three years since The Gentlemen Grifters have been on Into The Music, but it seems that time has served them well. Shaun Swanson (fiddle, vocals) and Mike Goodwin (guitar, vocals) have added Chris LaLonde (mandolin, vocals) and Jake Gilderson-Duwe (bass) to the line up and boy howdy are they making some great music! Their new project, Chest of Lead, is set to drop on August 12 and it's their best batch of songs yet. We discuss the new album, the bonuses they've tossed in, but we focus on four of the brand new songs—one of them a special mix just for this show! These bluegrass boys have never sounded so good, so take a load off and enjoy this show.

Bruce Lee Rose has been crafting high quality musical instruments for over thirty years. This has included electric and acoustic guitars, ukuleles, mandolins, and an assortment of cigar box instruments. Along with that Bruce winds custom pickups to go into his creations or to upgrade just about any guitarist's sound. He's an avid fan of the local music scene and the artists are a fan of his. Even when a hand injury put his building and playing in question, Bruce kept moving along with the help of his wife, MaryAnn. This is the story of a man with a passion to simply build the best quality instruments and pickups with the love of his life by his side. Plus we have music featuring some of the instruments created by Bruce.
