Let's consider the host of characters surrounding Paul in Rome and near Timothy in Ephesus, each of who has a significant role in God's work.

6/3/18. 8th week studying Paul's 2nd letter to Timothy. How did the Apostle Paul reach the world with the Gospel? Through the life-giving koinonia of Christ. There's a whole team of people who share in mutual joy of giving up everything to make God look great, for He is.

5/27/18. 7th week studying Paul's 2nd letter to Timothy. Paul speaks to his spiritual son a solemn charge, before God: "preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching." Enduring with "complete patience and teaching" will take as much courage and faith as the initial summary command to preach.

5/20/18. 6th week studying Paul's 2nd letter to Timothy. Scripture is sufficient for all of life, "useful" for every situation. To know what is right (what pleases God), what is not right, how to get right, and how to remain right. Let us be convinced of the power of God's Word, and live well according to what He has said.

5/13/18. 5th week studying Paul's 2nd letter to Timothy. How should Timothy lead in the midst of an age where Self is celebrated over loving and helping others? The "last days" will be difficult, troublesome, and hard to bear. And not just because of natural disasters and things outside of our control. The most difficult things will be people, and in helping Timothy understand how to lead well Paul hones in on particularly troublesome people groups with various qualities that all stem from the description "lovers of themselves."

5/6/18. 4th week studying Paul's 2nd letter to Timothy. Approved workmen, like Paul, and like Timothy shall be, do not not to be ashamed. Their approval comes from God, not other people. Out of this acceptance they can now give their very all to Christ, fleeing youthful passions to instead follow Him alongside of those who too want to fight the good fight of faith.
